Shopify Plus pricing in 2026: what it costs and what you get
Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a 3-year term. Full pricing, card and transaction fees, and when Plus pays for itself, checked September 2026.
Shopify Plus pricing is simple at the top and less simple underneath. The subscription is published. The variable fee some businesses pay is not. And the number that decides whether Plus is worth it is rarely the subscription at all, but the fees and the work you do with it.
All figures below are US pricing in USD from Shopify’s pricing page, Plus pricing page and Help Center, checked on September 29, 2026. Shopify shows different prices and rates in other regions, so check your own before you budget.
How much Shopify Plus costs
| Term | Price (as of September 2026) |
|---|---|
| 3-year term | From $2,300 USD per month |
| 1-year term | From $2,500 USD per month |
| Complex, higher-volume businesses | A variable platform fee instead |
The Plus pricing page lists two terms, one year and three years, and Shopify’s pricing FAQ says you can cancel when that term commitment expires.
The variable platform fee
Shopify’s Help Center says more complex, higher-volume businesses may pay a variable platform fee instead, based on revenue and business model, and that it differs for B2B and D2C companies. Shopify does not publish the rate. If your revenue is large enough for this to apply, the number comes from Shopify’s sales team, so ask for it early and in writing.
Card rates and transaction fees on Plus
With Shopify Payments, Plus has the lowest rates of any plan. Compared with Advanced, the top standard plan:
| Rate (US, as of September 2026) | Advanced | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Online standard card rate | 2.5% + 30¢ | 2.25% + 30¢ |
| Online premium card rate | 3.1% + 30¢ | 2.95% + 30¢ |
| Online international cards | + 1% | + 1% |
| In-person card rate | 2.4% + 10¢ | 2.3% + 10¢ |
| Third-party payment provider fee | 0.6% | 0.2% |
The third-party fee only applies when you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments.
What the subscription includes
Shopify’s pricing page and Help Center list these for Plus:
- Checkout customization. Full checkout customization, including checkout UI extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps and the Checkout Branding API.
- Custom Shopify Functions. Custom apps with your own discount, delivery, payment and validation logic.
- Up to 9 expansion stores at no extra subscription cost.
- Unlimited staff accounts and custom user groups.
- 200 inventory locations, against 10 on the standard plans.
- POS Pro for 20 locations, and up to 200 with Shopify Payments.
- Up to 25 headless storefronts and higher API rate limits.
- B2B, Launchpad, Shopify Audiences, combined listings, bot protection and Plus Certified apps.
We compare these with the standard plans feature by feature in Shopify vs Shopify Plus.
What Shopify Plus does not include
The subscription is the platform. It does not cover:
- Apps. Most Plus stores still pay for several, from reviews to subscriptions to search.
- A theme. Free themes are available, but many brands buy a premium theme or commission a custom one.
- Development. Checkout extensions, Functions, integrations and migrations are built by your team or an agency. Shopify’s Plus page points to Shopify Partners and its professional services for this.
- Card and transaction fees, which scale with your sales.
When you budget for Plus, budget for the work that makes it worthwhile, not only the subscription.
When Plus pays for itself
The subscription gap is the number to beat. On the prices above, Plus on a three-year term ($2,300) costs about $2,000 a month more than Advanced billed yearly ($299).
Lower rates cover part of that gap on their own:
- On Shopify Payments, the online standard card rate is 0.25 percentage points lower on Plus. That alone covers about $2,000 a month at roughly $800,000 a month of online standard card sales.
- On a third-party payment provider, the transaction fee is 0.4 points lower. That covers about $2,000 a month at roughly $500,000 a month of sales through that provider.
Those are only the fee savings, and your mix of card types, countries and in-person sales will move them. Most stores that upgrade below those volumes do it for what Plus lets them build: a checkout customized on every step, custom Functions now that Shopify Scripts are gone, expansion stores or B2B. If none of those would earn more than the difference, staying on Advanced is a perfectly good answer.
Getting value from the upgrade
Plus pays off when the features get used. The plan change itself is handled by Shopify and your store stays as it is. What follows is the work: rebuilding checkout content as extensions, moving custom logic into Functions, and retiring the apps Plus makes unnecessary.
That is what we do as a Shopify Plus agency, with a fixed scope and price agreed before we start. If you want an honest view on whether Plus is worth it for your store, get in touch.
